- Main goal was to drive the Europeans out of China, and maintain Chinese influence from European power. Another aim was to strengthen Chinese government by trying to overthrow declining Chinese dynasty. Although numerous Chinese revolt worked initially, the European powers regrouped and organized into effective war machine that hunted down the rebels.
- I think they were just standing up for the rights of Boxers.
- Overthrow the Europeans and Japanese who were invading China. They wanted to get rid of all European influence. Anything European. They wanted to restore their own government and religion. Boxers hated European things, from Christianity, to telegraph wires. they tore down all the telephone cables, killed Chinese converts to Christianity, etc. They believed that they could deflect bullets with their fists, so the Europeans called them boxers.
- Drive foreigners from China. Drive foreign missionaries from China. Restore full power to rule to the Emperor.
