Are there any community orchestras in the Phoenix area?

I'm looking to join a community orchestra in the Phoenix area (northwest preferably), however the only ones I've found are those offered through community colleges, which isn't exactly what I had in mind. I really don't want to have to pay for going to school again, just to join an orchestra. Any help is appreciated.

  1. Have you checked to see if you would have to enroll to play with those groups? You may not have too. We have a community orchestra that is through a college, but enrollment is not required. I would call and ask.
  2. I don't know myself, but there is an Arizona Orchestra Association. I would call the General Manager of the Phoneix Symphony Association Joel Levin at 602 495 1117 x 323. You could try the San Marcos Symphony. San Marcos Symphony "The San Marcos Symphony provides classical orchestral music performed by a wide range of volunteer musicians. The ninety members are drawn from across the Valley of the Sun and are led by the esteemed professional conductor, Jack Herriman. The symphony performs 5-6 free concerts each year at the Chandler Center for the Arts, located at 250 N. Arizona Avenue in Chandler, AZ. " (see web site below for contact details).
